Hello, my name is Kate Gloyd and I am the founder of Smart Girl Studios.
I specialize in watercolor, acrylic, gouache, and colored pencil, from botanical studies to playful illustrations. My first love is painting flora and fauna, capturing the colors and complexity of nature is a never-ending quest. I also offer custom pet portraits and commissioned work. Starting size for a custom pet portrait is $275 for a 5”x 7” canvas.

I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration and Art Education Certification from Moore College of Art and Design, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I have also been teaching art in Delaware Public Schools and online for the past eighteen years (my second love!).
I'm a creative nomad always searching for new media and techniques to explore, as well as new vintage finds to repurpose.
